Where does the cacao fruit come from?

Pacha de Cacao works with cacao fruit from Ecuador. The farms are nestled in the Guayas region, near the coast, amidst lush hills where savannas roll and remnants of tropical dry forest cover native kapok trees. Flowing through the land is the Guayas River, which carries water from the Andes mountains and the Chimborazo volcano.

Currently, we partner with local organizations and companies on the ground, which is essential as we are a small company based in Europe and the United States. The collection of pulp is a delicate process that requires close collaboration. We work with four farms in total, where over 100 farmers receive a steady monthly payment and a bonus on top for the pulp. Ecuador is an expensive country to live in. Through our pulp project, farmers receive a premium on top of their monthly income.

We hope to expand Pacha so that we can include more farmers in the program.
