Did you know this..?

  • Cacao is a fruit that grows on trees in tropical countries around the Equator. It consists of a pod (50%), pulp (30%), and beans (20%). Only the beans are used by the industry to make chocolate, and the pulp and pod are not. Imagine how much waste!
  • Cacao originates from South America, specifically Ecuador. It was cultivated over 5,000 years ago. The Mayans and Aztecs in Mesoamerica attributed spiritual significance to cacao, believing it was a gift from God. Hence the name of the tree: Theobroma Cacao, food of the Gods!
  • Pacha was launched in 2020, but the idea started in 2018 when our founder, Marika, was in Ecuador and wasn’t feeling too well. A farmer offered her fresh pulp to drink, saying, “this gives you energy.” And that’s how it all began.
  • We are a women-founded startup company. Our HQ is in Amsterdam, we source in South America, and our product is available in Europe the USA!
